Calling All Artists | Art On The Pier

A part of the historical San Clemente Pier is in need of an artist to make it beautiful for all to see and express what San Clemente Pier is all about.

PierPride Foundation, a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to maintaining and restoring the 91-year-old San Clemente Pier to the best version of its historic self where city funds fall short, is offering a unique opportunity for artists to bring some fresh fun and colorful art to the pier.

The public art installation/beautification project is titled,”Art On The Pier.” The first installment of the art project is an open spot on the exterior side of the utility room door on the restroom building at the middle of the Pier. This door will allow for an artist to use as a canvas for an original piece of artwork that is meant to depict the San Clemente Pier’s special culture/and or history.

PierPride has developed and executed many projects involving the pier, such as painting the pier in the last few years as well as recently putting up education signs regarding the area, like local whale species information or historical content about the city. Just last month, PierPride helped put in fishing line recycling canisters, and plans on soon replacing a drinking water water with a water bottle refill station.

The selected artist or team of artists will receive a $350 honorarium in addition to providing millions of eyes with inspiration and pride in San Clemente’s culture and history. An estimated 2 million people visit the San Clemente Pier each year.

The deadline to apply and submit conceptual renderings is due by 5 p.m. on October 31st to info(at)pierpride(dotted)org.
