Time to Throw it Back
Happy Throwback Thursday friends! Where you come from, where you call home is a part of who you are. Welcome to the Live Like a Local blog series that explores our roots and hometown in South Orange County.
We welcome you to explore with us, as we take in the vibrant culture, beautiful histories and exquisite homes created in our own backyard. Whether it be San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, or a surrounding coastal community, it is always a great day for Throwback Thursday in Orange County!
Especially when we love the place we call home…
At the heart of Ole Hanson’s dream for San Clemente was a commitment to community-owned facilities. Hanson was determined to build a beautiful city to play host to a beautiful lifestyle for its people. True to his dream, many of its original amenities (like the Ole Hanson Beach Club and San Clemente pier) were built at Hanson’s expense and donated to San Clemente locals.
In The Story of San Clemente, The Spanish Village by the Sea, under the pseudonym of Homer Banks, our founder left these words behind to describe his dream:
I want people to have more than a piece of land; I want them to have a location, environment, development. I feel that my past success in real estate will assure them a future prosperity here, and I feel by giving people a chance to live intelligently and artistically…This will be a place where a man can breathe! I have a clean canvas and I am determined to paint a clean picture. Think of it –
There are many places to call home. We just so happen to call San Clemente home. San Clemente is a hometown that never leaves you. It is special because it started as something special. It is a hometown that was built from the ground up, but brought to life by a dream. Calling San Clemente home is a love affair that will last a lifetime.
To love San Clemente, is to love to live like a local. In honor of Valentine’s Day we say thank you to our Ole Hanson, our founder of the “Village by the Sea” and the man with the dream. Remember that there are many ways to give back to San Clemente. Take a stroll through our historic downtown. Visit one of our historical landmarks. Whatever you do, be grateful and give back.
Love to Live Like a Local
At The Echelberger Group, our commitment to our community runs deeper than just the homes that we sell. To us, home is where your story begins, and community is where your home comes to life. Doug Echelberger is a life-long San Clemente resident and San Clemente High School Class of 1987 Alumnus. That is why we believe in giving back to the community we live in, and supporting the hometown that supports us.
